But despite these weather conditions, NIBULON’s specialists in crop cultivation demonstrated their professionalism. Thus, spring reseeding of winter wheat is foreseen to be up to 4% of the total area occupied by this crop – within average long-term indices. The previous inspection of crops showed that as winter barley is resuming vegetative growth, it is possible to avoid reseeding. The third round of inspection will show the final picture of winter rapeseed condition. In general, at present there are no prerequisites for a yield reduction at NIBULON’s branches.
Meanwhile, the company has already started spring field works. As of February 28, NIBULON’s specialists fertilized crops on 11 thousand hectares of frozen and thawed soil – 35 % of areas under winter crops (60 %, 6,200 hectares in Mykolayiv region). The branches located in the south have finished to fertilize winter wheat; concerning winter barley, if there is no precipitation soon, the fertilizer application technology will be changed. The company is fertilizing crops in Khmelnytskyy, Cherkasy, Vinnytsya, Zhytomyr, Kyiv regions and in the eastern regions.
In winter, NIBULON conducted preparatory works. The company purchased the required number of ammonia nitrate for dressing; NIBULON plans the second stage of nitrogen fertilizer procurement. NIBULON supplies combined fertilizers to its branches to sow spring crops. The company has 85 % of the required number of corn and sunflower seed (Monsanto, Pioneer); the rest of the seed will be purchased in the domestic market, when the reseeding volume is measured. Recently, NIBULON signed a contract for purchase of sorghum seed in the USA (CAIJO). Meanwhile, the company is purchasing soybean and seed potatoes. Traditionally, NIBULON’s engineering service adheres to the schedule, preparing machinery for spring field works.
According to NIBULON’s agricultural production department, all the organizational and agrotechnical measures, planned during this period, are carried out according to the clearly defined plan taking into account difficult conditions connected with dollar rate fluctuations. Thus, March will be quite busy, according to the specialists.
