According to Irina Ploshnyk, an environmental protection engineer at NIBULON, the company has carried out compensatory measures as part of the project to clean the navigable pass of the Southern Buh River. 
“The specialists of the Institute of Fisheries of National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine calculated that according to results of works on clearance of the navigable pass on the Southern Buh River performed by NIBULON in the second half of 2016 and in the first half of 2017, the company must compensate UAH 215,210”, said Iryna Ploshnyk.
NIBULON bought about 246 thousand units of silver carp, grass carp and carp worth of compensatory sum, with a total weight of 6 tons from HOLUBA NYVA agricultural fishery cooperative (Mykolaiv region, Nova Odesa district, Troitske village) on a contract basis. It became the winner of the tender.  
The first batch of fish (3,400 kg) was put in the Southern Buh River near NIBULON’s transshipment terminal in Buzke village (Voznesensk district) on November 6. Besides Vitalii Lukov, Voznesensk mayor, Oleksandr Taranenko and Yurii Zavoloka, heads of Prybuzhany and Buzke territorial communities, public activists, locals, including schoolchildren of Yastrubynove and Prybuzhany schools, and journalists attended the spectacular replenishment of the river’s ichthyofauna.
“The Southern Buh River stocking is a significant event for us. NIBULON doesn’t destroy the natural resources; it multiplies them. This company took care not only of its facility but also of the environment in Ukraine, as the Southern Buh River flows through Mykolaiv region, as well as through other regions”, shared his opinion on compensatory measures Yurii Zavoloka, head of Buzke territorial community.
In turn, his “neighbour across the river”, as head of Prybuzhany territorial community Oleksandt Taranenko called himself, said that he was very pleased with long-term cooperation with the company and noted its exemplary role in fulfilling its obligations,
“There are no such promises that NIBULON gave and failed to keep. If NIBULON promises something, it keeps its promises”.
The remaining quantity of fish (about 2,750 kg) was released the next day in Balovne village (Nova Odesa district), in the place where a disposal tip during the river dredging was. At present it is reclaimed and planted with forage grass, as NIBULON promised at public hearings. Now the local community decides how to use this site: as a pasture or something else.
“NIBULON once again confirmed its status of socially responsible company. Stocking of the Southern Buh River is a positive event for local communities, for fishermen.  But we need to take care to save the fish that was put in the river. So that one couldn’t catch fry before it “grow up” and gain weight. We plan to patrol these waters in order to maximize the preservation of silver carp, grass carp and carp. It will take about two years so that fry turned into “marketable” fish and could be caught by fishermen”, said Vitalii Lukov, Voznesensk mayor.
The loading, quality and quantity of fry, as well was as stocking itself was supervised by Oleksii Torubara, deputy head of Ichthyology and Fishery Regulation Department of the State Agency of Fisheries in Mykolaiv region, and Serhii Bliakhin, a main specialist of Ichthyology and Fishery Regulation Department, as well as by Volodymyr Malykh, a senior inspector of  “Fisheries Patrol” Water Resources Protection Department.
“This was done to improve the ecological environment, because these species are valuable biomeliorators and prevent water bloom, destroying phytoplankton and surplus of aquatic vegetation”, said Serhii Bliakhin.
According to experts, silver carp is a kind of living filter: with the help of its mouth it cleans bloom, green and muddy water. The meat of silver carp is oily, delicate and tasty, a valuable product of dietary nutrition. Fresh and frozen low-fat silver carp can be eaten if a person has gastrointestinal problems. In addition, silver carp is a valuable source of protein and vitamins.
The specialists of the State Agency of Fisheries in Mykolaiv region also noted that the stocked areas would be patrolled for a few days in order to control the illegal catch of the released fish.  In addition, fishery inspectors will continue to pay special attention to the fact that the work done by NIBULON has not been in vain and has brought its positive results.
According to Mykhailo Synytsia, head of the State Agency of Fisheries in Mykolaiv, only two companies in Mykolaiv region are engaged in fish stocking; NIBULON is one of them. 
The company plans to perform fish stocking of the Dnipro River, in the areas of new transshipment terminals, in particular in Kherson region where “Holoprystans’ka” branch was ceremoniously inaugurated in July 2017.
Voznesensk mayor also stressed that NIBULON has become an incentive for society.
“Such a company gives people hope that one can work and be successful in Ukraine even in these economic realities.  About a hundred inhabitants of Voznesensk work at NIBULON’s transshipment terminal and do not apply to authorities for social protection. We are glad that Oleksiy Vadaturskyy’s company has organized passenger transportation by water between Voznesensk and Mykolaiv. It enjoys huge demand of the townspeople. The non-self-propelled vessels will transport building materials along this river, the bottom of which has been deepened by NIBULON. This will save roads of Mykolaiv region and once again emphasize the values of the Southern Buh River as a transport waterway.
We would remind you that this is not the first time NIBULON carries out measures on water living resources reproduction.  In total, during implementation of the project on navigation revival along the Dnipro River and the Southern Buh River, the company has introduced compensatory measures for damage to fisheries for a total of more than UAH 2 million. As a result, during 2009-2017 the places where we worked, where our elevators were built (the Dnipro River, the Southern Buh River, the Kakhovka, Kaniv and Kremenchuk Reservoirs) were stocked with almost 50 tons of silver carp and carp.
