A company is its employees. The secret of successful company is efficient staff recruitment. Each employee can achieve maximal results when working in the right place. The HR department knows how human resources management is organized at NIBULON.
Deputy General Director of Personnel Larysa Buryk and her HR department do not have much time for an interview; everyday up to one hundred persons apply to NIBULON to get a job there, and even on weekends people call to find out about vacancies.
“To find a qualified employee is the main task of the HR department”, tells Larysa Buryk, “At first sight it seems easy. Our team tries not only to find, but also to pick out a person who will be able to work as efficiently as possible. It is very important for a person to be in the right place, to have appropriate working conditions in order to bring good results”.
Personnel record keeping at the company is also an important direction of the department activity. “Someone says ironically, “Execution of papers!” stresses Larysa Buryk, “Probably, but these very papers often influence on a person’s future; personnel documents describe the whole labour activity: work experience, transfer to higher positions, maternity leave, awards, etc”.
“The HR department functions are to formalize labour relations between an employer and hired employees”, adds Larysa Zvonova, a head of NIBULON’s HR department.
Everybody knows that NIBULON is one of a few employers that is ready to hire graduates without work experience. Larysa Buryk assures that the youth is our hope and pride. She notes that it is necessary to watch over professional achievements of the recent graduates and to help them in case of failures for their successful career development.
Iryna Savenko was such a recent graduate who got a job in NIBULON having graduated from Mykolayiv university, “On sending my summary to NIBULON’s HR department I did not expect to receive answer so soon. Larysa Buryk invited me to an interview. My fellow students and I were lucky to visit the company’s transshipment terminal. NIBULON impressed me with its openness and good treatment of its employees. Thus, it was not complicated to choose my first workplace”. Iryna has been working as a personnel officer for 3 years. She thinks that an experienced personnel officer is a good psychologist, a competent lawyer, an experienced statistician, and a competent economist. All these qualities must be combined in one specialist.
According to Larysa Zvonova, it is not easy to find a specialist for the HR department, “Unfortunately, none of Ukraine’s higher educational institutions prepares HR specialists. Consequently, the employees of the HR department are people who constantly improve their knowledge”, thinks Larysa, “They must be literate when executing documents, understand legal principles of labour relations. Thanks to our help the company’s employees solve a number of domestic and private issues! There are a lot of situations when our support helps to make the right decision”.
Eight years ago Larysa Zvonova came to NIBULON as a personnel officer. She tells she did not hesitate even for a minute having left her previous job where she headed the HR and information storage department, “I was not sorry about it! My previous employer did not guarantee stable work and legal wage. For these years NIBULON’s advantages have not changed: legal wage payment and stable wages are confidence in future for me and my family”.
According to the head of the HR department, the most important qualities of a highly-qualified personnel officer are honesty and responsibility, “We have access to personal records of the employees and applicants; thus, their privacy is an important part of our work. A personnel officer must have such qualities as curiosity, competence and awareness, be familiar with many legislative and by-law acts, study court practice and follow the legislation innovations, be able to sum up information and make conclusions. Diplomacy, sense of humor, politeness are important qualities when solving some conflict and current situations! Do not forget about creativity, as creative work is also present. The main thing is to remember that your decision influences on a person’s fate”.
“To work in the HR department means to work with people”, adds Olga Romadina, deputy head of the HR department, “An employee of the HR department is a person who must support friendly atmosphere in the company, solve conflict situations, be attentive to the colleagues”.
According to the Yevgeniya Shynkareva, a personnel officer, our work cannot be called routine, “Every day is full of events connected with solving of non-standard tasks. Every day does not look like previous one”.
You will always remember your first working day despite a great number of important events that happen in the company. The HR department knows it like no other, as this is the very department where an employee starts to familiarize himself with the company,
“I have been working for NIBULON for five years, but I will never forget my first working day”, recollects Olena Stepanova, “On August 2, 2008, I got a job as a personnel officer at the transshipment terminal. That day having entered the terminal, I was impressed by its greatness. I could not believe I was in Ukraine”. I took pride in NIBULON, in our city and country and my colleagues were professionals with a capital “P”. During my work I have not made up my mind. I work for the well-known company, in a friendly team and face the future confidently”.
“We spend most part of the day in the office, and relations with the colleagues are very important”, stresses Larysa Zvonova, “I appreciate that we are united by a common goal – to perform our duties qualitatively! Friendly atmosphere of our team contributes to efficient work; we always help each other! For eight years of my work only 1 person has left the department because of leaving for other city. Thus, employee turnover in our HR department is absent!”
When writing this article on October 10, 2013, on the eve of the professional holiday the HR department under the direction of Larysa Buryk conducted training on personnel record keeping and compliance with labour legislation to the employees of the company’s branches.
“The goal of this training is not to quote laws, but to share experience, thoughts, to discuss problem issues that constantly appear”, tells Larysa Buryk, “And this task was carried out successfully! It is very pleasant for me that our employees are not indifferent to their work: the participants not only listened to, but also actively participated in discussion, shared their achievements. Generally, our meeting was optimistic and benevolent! A pleasant surprise was a final testing. All the participants had to answer 35 questions to consolidate knowledge obtained. The results demonstrated high level of knowledge of our specialists. But good results do not mean to stop at what has been accomplished. We have a lot of things to study: to improve practical skills in solving problem issues. I want to wish my colleagues inspiration in our uneasy but such an interesting job. I wish you health, pleasant emotions and joy, support from colleagues and new labour achievements. Happy Personnel Officer’s Day, colleagues!”
General Director Oleksiy Vadaturskyy and NIBULON’s team congratulate the HR department.
