For the Ukrainian agrarians the rush season has come: all their attention is concentrated on harvesting. As harvesting is one the most responsible moments in the life of agrarians.   During this period in Zhytomyr region there was held “The regional meeting-seminar on harvesting of grain crops, laying-in of chaff and sowing of green manures” The event was held at the newly-built elevator complex of “NIBULON’s” branch “Teteriv” in Velyki Korovyntsi village of Chudnivs’kyy district on July 7. This elevator complex enters the top three most powerful modern elevators in Zhytomyr region.   Deputy heads of the district state administrations, directors of the departments of agricultural development, directors of main sectors of regional organizations, scientists, and producers of agricultural commodities took part in the event headed by Mykola Deisan, the deputy head of Zhytomyr regional state administration. During the meeting-seminar there were discussed many urgent issues concerning proper organization and conducting of harvesting including issues concerning harvesting and storage of a crop, anthropogenic safety, weather conditions, preservation of soils fertility, market formation of bakery commodities.   Participants of the meeting-seminar also inspected the territory of the modern elevator complex of “Teteriv” branch, became familiar with the technology of its operation, visited the field of corn hybridization, saw the modern technology of irrigation, familiarized with new practices of cultivation of winter wheat sorts in Tyutyunnyky village, observed modern harvesting machines, participated in the holiday dedicated to harvesting, listened to speeches, and communicated during the plenary part of the meeting.    Mykola Deisan expressed his predictions concerning crop yield in Zhytomyr region, “We plan to harvest at least 1.4 mln tons of grain crops and at the best to exceed the level of the last year – 1.5 mln tons. A crop yield, provided by winter barley, wheat, rape, is by 10-15% higher than it was in 2011. We hope to get a high yield of early grain crops and expect for high indices of a corn yield”.
