President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych ordered Cabinet of Ministers to execute the decision of Ukraine’s Council of Regions, including to assume the measures concerning ensuring of dredging of the Dnipro and the Southern Bug Rivers to guarantee safe navigation and also to consider the possibility of financing this work due to the funds obtained from canal dues.
He reported about it on October 16, 2013, during the meeting of the Council of Regions. In accordance with the decision of Ukraine’s President, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov ordered Ministers of Infrastructure and Economic Development Volodymyr Kozak and Igor Prasolov to process the given issues and inform Presidential Administration and Cabinet of Ministers about results.
We would remind you that since 2009 NIBULON has been implementing its investment project directed to the revival and development of the agrarian market and transport sector. The main components of the project are cargo fleet construction, construction of transport infrastructure to store and transship grain (elevators and transshipment terminals), dredging of the limiting parts of waterways, reconstruction of locks.
In summer 2013 President of Ukraine and Prime Minister approved initiatives to revive the Dnipro and the Southern Bug Rivers as main navigable waterways. Thus, in August 7, 2013, the appropriate order was given to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, State Agency for Investment and National Projects of Ukraine, and Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, taking into consideration the common address of the heads of Kyiv Regional State Administration, Poltava Regional State Administration and Kherson Regional State Administration, as to recognition of NIBULON’s investment project as national project. The investment project was supported by the authorities of the Regional State Administrations of Kyiv, Poltava, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, and Mykolayiv cities.
