Records of 2018: Agricultural Commodity Procurement

In the first half of 2018/19 MY, NIBULON’s branches have already procured 3.6 million tons of agricultural products. This is an absolute record in the company’s activities.
According to the results of the first half of 2018/19 MY, NIBULON’s three transshipment terminals (without taking into account the company’s sea transshipment terminal in Mykolaiv) have shown the best results in the purchase of agricultural products.
The best results have shown “Khortytsia” branch in Zaporizhzhia region (246.8 thousand tons and it is a 37 % increase as compared with the similar period of 2017/18 MY), “Voznesens’ka” branch in Mykolaiv region (244.1 thousand tons – a 23 %  increase as compared with the similar period of 2017/18 MY), and “Kozats’ka” branch in Kherson region (240.6 thousand tons). By the way, the terminal of “Kozats’ka” branch (built in 2012) has been maintaining its leadership in agricultural products receipts for a long time. Taking into account the above-mentioned results, the efficiency of production capacities and granaries in six months of the marketing year at all three transshipment terminals has already exceeded 3 turnovers.
Such effective work of the company became possible due to the complex approach to the creation of the company’s logistics infrastructure (construction of terminals, fleet, etc.). After all, these separate units (terminals, fleet) could not work so successfully and efficiently. An integrated approach to product transportation is also effective. Thus, the company’s logistics is almost completely redirected to water transport. And the small percentage of road and rail transportation is the transportation of products from warehouses built in close proximity to agricultural production zones to the transshipment terminals located on the rivers.
To date, the total grain storage capacity is 2 million tons. NIBULON’s branches have made almost 2 turnovers, having procured 3.6 million tons of products only in six months of the marketing year.
It should be noted that NIBULON annually increases its carry-overs which enables the company to plan its activities six months ahead.
Taking into account the huge demand from agricultural commodities producers for NIBULON’s transshipment terminals and corn houses and their cooperation with us, NIBULON plans to increase the storage capacities of five transshipment terminals in Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions by the beginning of 2019/20 MY. In particular, it will enlarge the storage capacities of “Voznesens’ka” branch (22,000 tons) and “Khortytsia” branch (16,500 tons). In August 2017, the company enlarged the capacities of “Kozats’ka” branch by 16,000 tons, thereby having increased its total capacity to 92,000 tons.
When constructing its new facilities closely to Ukrainian agricultural producers, NIBULON not only reduces their transportation costs ensuring high-quality processing and storage, but also removes traffic load from the roads since the received grain is transported to the company’s sea transshipment terminal in Mykolaiv by water. Taking into account the continuous expansion of capacities of its own shipbuilding and repair yard, as well as the expansion of its cargo fleet, NIBULON will be capable of transporting up to 4 million tons of cargoes per year by inland waterways. As a result, more than 166,000 of trucks per year will be removed from Ukrainian roads.
