Road condition is an urgent problem, especially after winter. This year the adverse weather conditions have damaged road surface. It goes without saying that the local budget cannot cover expenses even for partial road repair (almost all Mykolayiv streets are in unsatisfied conditions). The local authorities addressed themselves to large companies, asking them to assist in the road repair as part of share participation – for the sake of community.
NIBULON is used to improving engineering and infrastructure sectors in the territories where its branches operate. The company has been repairing roadways for several years. Sometimes it even has to wait for a permit from the municipal authorities to repair roads. This time Mykolayiv streets to be repaired have been determined. NIBULON signed a contract for road repair with Mykolayiv Avtodor Ltd., a contractor.
None of organizations or companies undertook such an amount of repair work like NIBULON did (other Mykolayiv industrial companies did not show enthusiasm, though their trucks move along Mykolayiv streets). NIBULON will repair road surface at its own expense (along Chygryna Str. – from Pushkinska Str. to Korabely Lane; along Korabely Lane – from Chygryna Str. to Novoselska Str.; along Novoselska Str. – from Korabely Lane to Sudnobudivelnyky Lane; along Sudnobudivelnyky Lane – to Kabotazhnyy Spusk and Industrialna Str.). The total cost of repair work comprises UAH 410 thousand. The company has already paid advance payment, and the contractor has started to work.
“On May 12, NIBULON started to repair road surface along Industrialna Street”, informs Sergiy Besedin, deputy general director of construction. “We are repairing an area under the railroad bridge, along Kabotazhnyy Spusk and Industrialna Street. On May 12 and 13, the specialists carried out milling and cleaning of road surface. On May 14, they started to lay asphalt-concrete along Industrialna Street. It should be noted that the specialists carried out damage analysis with the presence of specialists from the Communal Services Department of the Municipal Executive Committee, contractor representatives, and specialists from NIBULON’s engineering supervision. They made a damage report and set a price.
One of the Internet-sources posted information that the workers conducted patchwork and laid asphalt in holes with pools after the rain along Industrialna Street. NIBULON was supposed to be a customer of these works. “It is absolutely impossible”, says Sergiy Besedin. “Firstly, we have started to lay asphalt today, on May 14. The weather is fine and the road surface is absolutely dry. And the photo was taken on May 13. Secondly, NIBULON does not repair this area (we are repairing the road leading to the concrete product plant and to the railway crossing); the patchwork was performed by someone else. Finally, NIBULON’s engineering supervision controls the entire process. The workers have removed dust and processed the road areas with bitumen. Everything meets the technical requirements. It is important for us not just to perform work formally but to do it qualitatively”.
The road repair is a part of activities performed by the company in this direction. Implementing its investment program to revive Ukrainian rivers as transport waterways, NIBULON not only creates production infrastructure but also renovates damaged roads in different regions. For example, NIBULON actually created new road surface in Kozatske town (Kherson region). The company repaired roads at “Artemivs’ka” and “Kremenchuts’ka” branches (Poltava region), “Teteriv” branch (Zhytomyr region) and at other branches. As a rule, the company repairs roads within settlements, but, for example, NIBULON renovated an area of Boryspil-Dnipropetrovsk highway in Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy district (Kyiv region).
New tasks are next in turn. NIBULON will renovate road surface damaged by winter in the regions where its branches operate. The company will do it qualitatively, meeting technological requirements.
