SHIPBUILDING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SCEPSIS

Due to the Association of Shipbuilders of Ukraine Ukrsudprom, the exhibition contractor, guests had an opportunity to get acquainted with the industry trends and new projects.
Mykola Romanchuk, the First Deputy Head of Mykolayiv Regional State Administration, at the start of the exhibition reminded that Mykolayiv shipbuilding history extends back over 200 years. Each industry has its ups and downs. Although some pessimists think that the shipbuilding industry in the city has died, that is not the case. The Mykolayiv shipbuilding industry will never die.
In testimony of that fact, Mykola Romanchuk mentioned a successful work of the shipbuilding and repair yard NIBULON that demonstrates profitability of the industry by systematic fulfillment of shipbuilding orders.
The President of Ukrsudprom, Viktor Lysytskyy, emphasized that in spite of difficulties the Ukrainian shipbuilding industry will be in demand and has a high potential. We can compare its possible implementation with IT. Onrush development of water transportation proves that Ukrainian shipbuilding is important to the world.
The company management acquainted guests and participants with its implemented and planned orders, reconstruction project and other plans.
From the moment NIBULON had purchased the property complex of the former shipbuilding yard Lyman, there were constructed 2 tugs of the POSS-115 project, 3 tugs of the 121 project, 3 non-self-propelled vessels of the NBL-91 project, 1 non-self-propelled floating crane of the C14938 project within three years.
Today the shipyard is building the first two out of eight non-self-propelled vessels of B2000 project custom-made for operation on the Southern Bug River. They will have been put into operation by the end of June.
In addition, NIBULON has developed and successfully implements a production program representing one hundred percent of the shipyard’s workload for the next years. The company plans to build at its own shipyard pusher-tugs of modernized 121M project, multipurpose seagoing tugs of 3,500 and 5,000 hp, a self-propelled floating crane of  901 project (similar to St. Mykolai one), non-self-propelled vessels (NBL-91, B2000 and 90M projects) in 2016-2018.
As part of the exhibition, a round table discussion “New Version of Ukrainian Maritime Doctrine is the first step of maritime industry revival” took place.
The participants of the meeting discussed the national shipbuilding as important constituent of marine industry cluster, port fleet renovation and development of naval potential.
Andriy Vadaturskyy, a People’s Deputy of Ukraine, reported on the water transportation problems in Ukraine.
In particular he remarked that Ukraine must study and adopt the experience in using of inland water transport of European countries as well as of the USA, Belarus Republic etc. There are no companies in Ukraine, except NIBULON, that systemically invest in water transport development.
The company is the only one that builds cargo vessels of inland and combined navigation. Now its cargo fleet consists of 48 self-propelled and non-self-propelled vessels. Eight new vessels will be constructed and put into operation in 2016.
Due to its own cargo fleet, the company transports about 2 million tons of cargo per year by Ukrainian inland waterways (it plans to transport 3 million tons per year).
In addition, the company dredges the Southern Bug River without governmental support, reviving navigation at a section of 134km.
Andriy Vadaturskyy drew a special attention to the problems of inland waterways and river transport in Ukraine that significantly affects poor-quality national roads and ecology.
Due to NIBULON’s experience in organization of water transportations, it is possible to highlight a problem of general state disinterest in this sphere, absence of governmental approach, ineffective use of natural resources for transport development and direction of investments not to infrastructural improvement.
For example, the cargo-carrying potential of the Southern Bug River is 1 million tons of grain, 1 million tons of building materials, and also traffic load decrease on highways till 50 thousand cargo road-trains.
Each million tons of cargo removed to the river saves UAH 790 million for road reconstruction!
Besides, more than 2,500 tons of fuel (70%) is saved if a million tons of cargo is carried by the river transport instead of automobile transport. Discharge to the atmosphere decreases by 8,200 tons (70%).
Upon completeing of the round table discussion, the participants accepted a number of resolutions to be submitted to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
