In order to free so-iuy mullet, the dredger’s crew (Volodymyr Tkachenko, Andrii Kryvoshein, Denys Seleznov, Ihor Rybachenko) has worked round the clock under the supervision of the regional director Volodymyr Horishnyi. In total, 10,000 m3 of sand has been removed. The strait length that joined the Molochnyi Estuary with the Sea of Azov comprised 680 m, depth – up to 2 m (Video).
The water level in the Molochnyi estuary catastrophically falls every year. The only sea gate was an artificial strait which was deposited with sand from storms and required artificial cleaning. Due to its silted condition, so-iuy mullet that entered the estuary in spring for spawning was stuck in shallow water and died because of lack of sea water. This year, head of Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration Kostiantyn Bryl asked NIBULON to help. And the company immediately agreed to help.
