Water transport is one of the key elements of Ukraine’s economy, and cargo carriage by cargo fleet is an integral part of the domestic economy development and logistics component improvement. NIBULON successfully implements the strategy of Ukraine’s fleet development and continues to build its own cargo fleet.
The unique St. Mykolai floating crane constructed in July 2013 continues its operation in the outer roads of Mykolayiv Commercial Sea Port. Its main task is to finish loading of powerful vessels of PANAMAX type in the roads.
We would remind you that the floating crane came to Mykolayiv city on July 30, and on August 8 St. Mykolai was bound for Ochakiv town and started its operation.
ELPIS motor vessel was the first vessel to be fully loaded with 16 thousand tons of barley by St.Mykolai. Totally, the floating crane has loaded above 196 thousand tons of wheat, barley, corn and other crops on 14 motor vessels.
The floating crane will carry out additional loading of vessels being in the outer roads of Mykolayiv Commercial Sea Port.
St. Mykolai complies with the European standards and requirements and is Ukraine’s most productive transshipment floating crane; its daily capacity equals the daily capacity of NIBULON’s transshipment terminal in Mykolayiv city.
The floating crane construction became the successive stage to implement the global project to revive navigation on Ukraine’s rivers. The next stages will include:
– construction of new river transshipment terminals;
– construction of a series of self-propelled vessels of Volgo-Don Max type, tugs of POSS-120 project, non-self-propelled vessels of NBL-91 project at NIBULON’s own shipyard;
– removal of granite rifts on the Dnipro River and dredging of the Southern Bug River navigation area.
The unique logistics system, own floating crane and cargo fleet will allow NIBULON to develop the Dnipro, the Volga, the Don Rivers, the Caspian Sea and to carry out transportation by the Black Sea creating a chain among Ukraine, Russia, Belarus with direct entry to Kazakhstan, Iran, and other countries.
