According to organizers, such an event will contribute to the deepening of Access students’ knowledge of current state and potential of Mykolaiv region economic development.
At first, the children visited NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard. Director of the shipyard Dmytro Horbenko personally held an excursion at the shipyard. The children had an opportunity to see all main stages of vessels construction, from cutting parts and up to final preparations for launching. They also saw the company’s fleet, in particular passenger vessels, Mykolaivets self-propelled dredger, a 100-m non-self-propelled vessel and tugs, including the first multipurpose T3500 tug, which was launched on May 23, 2018 with the participation of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
“This is my second time at the shipbuilding and repair yard. I visited it for the first time during the exhibition opening. This visit has deepened my understanding of vessel construction process, activities of the plant and the company as a whole. That is why I really liked it”, – said Valeriia Kolomaiko.
In turn, Oleksandra Chuhunova added that it was interesting to see the shipbuilding process from within and a fairly large number of women among the shipyard’s employees.
The excursion at the transshipment terminal started with the transport registration point and production and technological laboratory. The children had an opportunity to observe the way grain is delivered from suppliers to the terminal and sampling to determine product quality is performed. The specialists also told them about NIBULON’s principle activities, the company structure, and progress of its large-scale investment project, which includes expansion of the cargo fleet, construction of new transshipment terminals along the Dnipro River and the Southern Buh River, as well as revival of the mentioned waterways as the navigable arteries of Ukraine.
The visitors were really impressed by huge domes-grain storages, as well as by green areas of the terminal; and there are plenty of them in the territory.
“I really liked the mechanisms in this territory. I would like also to note the work of the transshipment terminal’s employees. Everything is very beautiful and green here. It is evident that people put their hearts and souls into their work”, said Anastasiia.
During the excursion, the guests shared their impressions and took pictures. After all, they had a delicious lunch at the terminal’s café. And the youth was very grateful for it.
