“Suhorabivs’ka” Branch: Six Years of Changes for the Better

On February 28, 1066 in London there was opened Westminster Abbey – a traditional place to crown the kings of Great Britain. The first printed code of Karelian-Finnish epos “Kalevala” appeared on February 28, 1835. The American chemist Walles Carothers for the first time synthesized nylon on February 28, 2010. And on February 28 a lot of outstanding scientists, sportsmen, political figures, writers around the world celebrate their birthdays. February 28 is also a significant day for NIBULON as on this day one of NIBULON’s production branches celebrates its birthday… “Suhorabivka is a village in Reshetylivka district of Poltava region. Its population is 996 people. The body of local self-government is Suhorabivka village council. The village is located near the Psel River where Suhorabivka hydroelectric power plant is situated”. “…The years have passed. The Psel River slips its pure water. Suhorabivka village stands on its bank and each villager speaks well of Cossacks-fishermen who started the history of their village. Picturesque landscapes, pure clean water of the Psel River attract tourists not only from the district but also from the region and from the whole Ukraine” (an abstract taken from the legend about village foundation). NIBULON’s branch in Suhorabivka village was found in 2007 on the basis of the former collective farm named after Schors. Until NIBULON arrived the farm had been neglected, the fields had not been cultivated, livestock farms had been deserted, agricultural products had been given as rental payment. At the end of summer 2006 NIBULON wished to lease Suhorabivka land. The company was constructing modern elevator in Reshetylivka district at that time. And in March 2007 NIBULON’s machinery went out into the fields of Suhorabivka village. The branch started to hire locals immediately. Chief accountant Natalya Zaishla recollects those times, “I have been working for the branch since its foundation. I came here as a mature worker, such employees are valued in the same way as the youth. It was very difficult at the beginning but then my work came to normal. Thanks to endeavors of Iryna Voytyuk, an accountant of “Reshetylivs’ka” branch, we have mastered occupational computer programs”. Oleksandr Savelya, a guard, is among the old residents of the branch, “I have been working for “Suhorabivs’ka” branch since the first day of its foundation. From year to year I can observe how our terminal is growing and expanding. The branch territory has changed for the better since then. As opposed to some farms in the district our branch is fenced, the whole territory is illuminated, there is a comfortable check-point with an accommodation for the guards. The employees have appropriate working conditions”. Ruslan Mogish, a young tractor driver, is very glad to have tidy and illuminated buildings of the workshops where it is convenient to repair machinery in the evening as well as under unfavourable weather conditions. “In the district it is hard to find an enterprise that provides its workers with spares and with all necessary equipment like NIBULON does. Tractors and other machinery are always in operation; we take care of the machinery and repair it if necessary. We never admit the situation when a tractor does not go into the field in time because of its damage”, he mentions. NIBULON is one of the largest domestic agricultural producers. The important factor of its success is to follow the main tendencies of the world market, to master the best practices, to carry out agricultural activity regularly. The employees and their level of professionalism play an important role in it. One of the key principles of NIBULON’s work is constant increase of employee professionalism to be achieved by regular training. During NIBULON’s activities in Suhorabivka village there was practically ploughed up virgin soil that had never been ploughed up by its former leasers. The previous owners were mostly engaged in cultivating weeds rather than crops. Soon the young branch has started to compete for the leading production indices with other NIBULON’s branches. According to Sergiy Lyfar, a chief agronomist, the production branch takes the leading places among NIBULON’s branches in the forest-steppe and woodlands areas. It is ensured by constant increase of yield of main crops grown at the branch, namely corn (from 54 dt/ha to 84.7 dt/ha) and sunflower (from 14.7 dt/ha to 25 dt/ha). An emphasis is made on corn as NIBULON is the acknowledged domestic leader in production and export of this crop. Due to the company there was opened a market to supply corn to Egypt and to other countries. The cost for the Ukrainian agricultural producers has almost increased in four times, and corn became one of the most profitable crops in Ukraine. “It goes without saying that we do not have any problems with selling of commodities – they are directed to the elevator of “Reshetylivs’ka” branch. Despite our fields are not the largest ones among NIBULON’s branches, we have lots to be proud of! By the way, the most pleasant recollection in my work is a process of grain cultivation which I observed at the branch for the first time. It is always pleasant to observe how a small kernel sprouts and then a ripe spike is earring”, adds the branch chief agronomist. NIBULON’s branch is well-known in Reshetylivka district. The branch closely cooperates with the bodies of self-government and local community that contributes to improvement of NIBULON’s image in the region. The important component of the branch activities is an active socially oriented activity. NIBULON regularly gives social assistance for the local infrastructure development, organization of holidays, sanitation of pupils of the village school, etc. Only in 2012 there were allocated funds for the leisure center creation, for the village school repair. Due to NIBULON the pupils and teachers were able to join modern technologies, and the educational process became more interesting and effective, as at school there is a new modern multimedia projector. On the basis of “Suhorabivs’ka” branch, due to Oleksiy Vadaturskyy, NIBULON’s general director, there are held district regional seminars, summing-up the harvesting of early grain crops and others. In November 2012, during the district holiday on the occasion of the Agricultural Worker’s Day, the heads of the District Council and the District Administration awarded the Diploma of Poltava Regional Council to Oleksandr Bur’yan, the branch director, and his team. NIBULON’s workers were acknowledged for their long term honest work, significant contribution to the agricultural complex development, active civic stand. Personnel information: “NIBULON is the first working place of Oleksandr Bur’yan. Graduating from Lugansk National Agrarian University he started to work for “Starobil’s’ka” branch as a mechanic. Then he worked as an engineer in Starobil’s’k service center. In 2009 he was transferred to “Suhorabivs’ka” branch as a deputy director. Since 2010 he has been leading the given branch”. “Our company has its own little history. Our greatest achievements are the leading positions in production contests among other NIBULON’s branches. The labour standards at our branch and also its green territory are the district pride and an example for other agricultural producers”, stresses Sergiy Koretskyy, an economist. Besides its history, the branch employees have their small traditions. “From year to year we celebrate the harvest festival. In summer 2012 in the territory of our branch there was held the district harvest festival. Though our branch is in diversity of flowers in summer, but that day it was especially beautiful. Outside we have made an improvised stage and decorated it”, mentions Natalya Zaishla. It is the team who plays a significant role in the branch success.  “Long time ago there was formed a friendly and professional team the main feature of whose is a mutual assistance. It has already become a tradition to carry out community work day, when, for example, men cut down unnecessary young shoots in the forest belt, and women whitewash trees. Common work brings together. In order to support this spirit, an example of leadership and leader authority is very important. Andriy Syrovatko, the deputy general director, helps me in it. He is an example to be followed due to his professionalism, managerial abilities, principle stand. He always helps to solve any production issues”, mentions Oleksandr Bur’yan. In the name of the team, Volodymyr Dmytrenko, his deputy, shared his opinion about the director, “We are lucky to have such a director! Together we are not afraid of marching into battle and going on a recce. He defends his workers with might and main. “Borysovych”, as we call him respectfully, is the main authority for us. Sensitiveness and non-indifference to someone’s grief are peculiar to him. He listens to everybody, gives advice, supports in a crisis.” Today the friendly team of “Suhorabivs’ka” branch celebrates its 6th birthday. NIBULON’s staff led by Oleksiy Vadaturskyy, the general director, joins in congratulations. Colleagues, we wish you new achievements and inspiration!
