The full-scale construction of the floating crane of POSS-901 project is being continued at the shipbuilding yard “SNC” (Constanta city, Romania). At present there have been signed agreements for procurement of all necessary equipment – 25% of its amount has been already delivered to the shipbuilding yard. Besides, there were signed the appropriate agreements and the contractors finish to develop the detailed design documentation for vessel’s ventilation (“Heinen & Hopman Engineering”, Holland); for outfitting works, including insulation works, furniture assembly, outfitting works in accommodations (“Maritime Bulletin”, Turkey). The Ukrainian design bureau “Torola Design Group”, the customer’s partner, developed the detailed design documentation for the vessel’s hull: for the sections No 10, 20, 30, 40 (so called strong hull). All the documentation was sent to the shipbuilding yard. Cutting of sheet metal (Class A steel) and metal-roll to make the above mentioned sections is being continued at the shipbuilding yard. For November 25, 2012 it is planned to hold a keel laying – a longitudinal beam laid at the bottom of a hull. The floating crane keel will serve as the main longitudinal brace providing the strength and stiffness of the hull and the total hull strength. According to the contract, the construction completion will be on February 28, 2013. *** The floating crane of POSS-901 project is designed for carrying out loading/unloading operations at grab mode with lifting capacity up to 45 tons and at hook mode – up to 60 tons on inland waterways, in the Sea of Azov and the Black sea costal area up to 20 miles – all year round. The floating crane technical characteristics ensure to carry out loading/unloading operations with wave height up to 1.5 m and wind force up to 20 m/s. Main characteristics: – length, maximum – 52.3 m; – breadth – 22 m; – draught (lightship) – 2 m; – displacement (at 2 m draught) – about 2000 tons; – speed – not less than 4 knots. Lifting capacity: – at grab mode (boom reach – 32 m) – 45 tons; – at hook mode (boom reach – 26m) – 60 tons.
