Recently, in Ukraine there has been increased the number of fires at the facilities to store and process grain crops, leading to considerable material losses, informs the Head Office of the State Service of Emergency Situations of Ukraine in Mykolayiv region.
On August 27, 2014, for training purpose and within real training, for practicing joint action of the facility’s fire brigade with units of the State Service of Emergency Situations, at NIBULON’s transshipment (sea) terminal there have been held tactical and special trainings to extinguish a simulated fire. Staff of the units of operational and rescue service of Mykolayiv local garrison of civil defence, the terminal’s voluntary fire brigade and the company’s specialists participated in the trainings.
According to the tactical project developed together with the specialists of the Head Office of the State Service of Emergency Situations and NIBULON, imaginary, because of gas and welding work in the bucket elevator tower on the working floor there appeared a flash of grain dust spreading to the transportation grain system located on the third floor. Till the arrival of the first unit of the State Fire and Rescue Unit, the area of fire is 70 m², and inside there are 3 employees (1 person is in the basement of the bucket elevator tower, 1 person is on its third floor, and 1 person is in the silo), according to the administration. The terminal’s administration informs the terminal’s voluntary fire brigade and calls “101” to inform the State Fire-Fighting Service of Mykolayiv city, takes measures to evacuate people from the premises of the bucket elevator tower and also starts to extinguish a fire by using ATS-40 fire-fighting truck with ZIL chassis and primary fire-extinguishing means. Then divisions of the State Fire and Rescue Unit arrive; the command “operational deployment” is given, and fire and rescue operations are finished within established terms.  
In general, trainings have been held according to the orders by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine:
1. Studying of operational and tactical peculiarities of the facility.
2. Tactical plan decision;
– training of prompt actions of units;
– arrangement of efficient units;
– arrangement of a fire center, communication with efficient units, placing of units on water sources, inspection of fire-fighting water supply sources.
3. Training cancellation.
4. Analysis of tactical tasks.
During tactical and special trainings, particular attention was paid to:
– carrying out top priority tasks to extinguish a simulated fire by NIBULON’s forces, until fire and rescue units of the Head Office of the State Service of Emergency Situations arrive;
– cooperation of the terminal’s administration with the fire center, arrangement of their work;
– cooperation of the divisions of the Head Office of the State Service of Emergency Situations with the terminal’s voluntarily fire brigade;
– operation methods with fire fighting equipment. 
According to the specialists of the Head Office of the State Service of Emergency Situations, taking into consideration the required number of staff and degree of proficiency, the quantity of equipment, specialists of both NIBULON and experts of the Head Office of the State Service of Emergency Situations ensured the required quantity of forces and fire-extinguishing means, performed rescue operations, extinguished a simulated fire.
Such common trainings are systematically carried out at NIBULON’s branches which non-military fire brigades regularly take prize-winning places in the regional and district contests of fire-applied sport.
