The company’s success depends on efficient actions of an economist. How economic analysis and planning help to form a vector of the company’s development, they know at NIBULON.
“The economic department plays a great role in choosing the most efficient way of the company’s development. A manager runs a company blindly without an economist”, thinks Andriy Vasylev, deputy general director on legal and economic issues. A modern company cannot do without the economic department activity. It is important when a company is doing business stably and for a long time, as well as when a company develops a new sphere of activity. A successful economist must understand and know a principle of the company’s work estimating all the indices of its development fully.
“The company’s economic and financial condition depends on the economist’s actions”, tells Vyacheslav Sizov, an economist of elevator operation of the department of economic analysis and planning, “If you are an economist, your duty is to be responsible, self-organized, persistent, concentrated when making analysis and calculations”.
Vyacheslav got a job at NIBULON after graduating from university. The first job is an economist of the transshipment terminal in Mykolayiv city. I have chosen NIBULON after production and pregraduation training. I was attracted by NIBULON’s stability, possibility to receive priceless experience. My duties included economic analysis and optimization of production processes at our terminal”, recollects Vyacheslav Sizov.
According to Vyacheslav, the economists’ work at NIBULON is of great value, “During my work as an economist of elevator operation of the department of economic analysis and planning, the department has done a lot to facilitate acceptance of decisions by the company’s management. In particular, in order to carry out daily analysis, our specialists have developed a group of indices that allow to analyze the activity of certified grain storages in detail. In order to speed data record, together with the department of applied software there was developed a program that has no analogues in Ukraine. There were developed appropriate methodical materials for convenience”.
Yevgen Didyk, a head of the department of economic analysis and planning, thinks that great responsibility is laid on the economists, as they provide the company’s management with information required for making managerial decisions,
“Professional economists differ their ability to see essence of real processes and events in a great number of different data, to feel and estimate their interrelation. Our labour market is characterized by weakening of specialization: it is important to master related professions, knowledge, including understanding of laws, proficiency in foreign languages, standardized software. Thus, every specialist must constantly increase his/her level of proficiency and expand circle of interests”.
According to Yevgen, an economist career is quite popular among youth, but on graduating from the university it is not easy for the economists to use their knowledge and skills in practice. For example, the work at the production enterprise requires advanced understanding of the production technology, specific knowledge and skills. Consequently, in order to become a specialist, it is necessary to improve your knowledge and level of proficiency.
Galyna Lyuta, deputy head of the department, advices economists not to neglect self-education, “Education obtained by students in the higher educational institutions does not ensure those knowledge and skills required in practice. Ability and desire to study constantly, to analyze each issue in detail are a guarantee of good results. Galyna Lyuta, from her own experience, knows about education provided by the domestic educational institutions. She came to NIBULON having left scientific and teaching activities.
I was never sorry about my decision. It is an invaluable experience and possibility to take part in the powerful process. Years of work here are full of bright impressions and important events. I will never forget when our transshipment terminal took the first vessel D.S. PIONEER in 2003. And three years ago I was a godmother of NIBULON’s newly-built non-self-propelled vessel.
“If you want to become a good economist, you must be prepared to find optimal decisions for the company’s development”, thinks Anna Terenteva, an economist of labour and wages sector of the department of economic analysis and planning. NIBULON became her first workplace, “Being a student I visited the transshipment terminal in Mykolayiv city. Since then I realized that I wanted to work here”. Having graduated from Mykolayiv university she started her career as an economist of the planning department at “Starobil’skyy elevator”, then she was transferred to Poltava region, and five years ago she returned to work in Mykolayiv city.
According to Tetyana Terenteva, it is very important for a real economist to believe in success and to be purposeful, “It is necessary to be creative when solving tasks, as not everything is solved by using standard methods. Sociability is also an important quality. Law knowledge is topical, as ignorance of the law shall not exempt one from liability. Thus, for example, the main principles of legal regulation of labour relations are stated in the Labour Code. Without understanding the laws, I will not be able to act in the sphere connected with implementation of rights to labour and working conditions, employment, labour organization and control, occupational training, retraining and refresher training; ensuring of contract regulation of working conditions, responsibility of employers and employees, inspection and control over compliance with labour legislation, etc.”.
“I think that modern higher educational institutions must include advanced study of law, as knowledge of legal norms is required both in the professional activity and in everyday life”, adds Oleksandr Klochkov, an economist of the industrial production sector, “As about foreign languages, English must know every specialist despite education and profession”.
