NIBULON will put into operation its modern transshipment terminal (the second one in Mykolayiv region) in about 50 days. This facility will receive up to 10 thousand tons of agricultural commodities per day and ship them (including for export) on NIBULON’s own non-self-propelled vessels constructed in Mykolayiv.
According to NIBULON’s General Director Oleksiy Vadaturskyy, it will be a high-tech automated complex with about 45 facilities,
namely a round-the-clock cafeteria for employees and guests, an administrative and laboratory building with the laboratory equipped according to the highest world standards, a personal service room with conveniences for employees and guests, a weighing station, high-capacity grain storages of 5.5 thousand tons each, a truck-tipper with transport galleries to receive three crops simultaneously, and others. The terminal will be equipped with alternative energy-saving schemes, in particular modern solar batteries, a video control system across the territory, and autonomous water supply. It will also have modern concrete roads and access roads, large parking for 200 trucks, bicycle parking, and landscape design.
About 30 contracting organizations are working at the construction site. Construction works will be finished in the middle of May, and the specialists will start installing equipment.
In particular, the construction workers will construct the first floor of the administrative and laboratory building till the end of April. The specialists of TavriyaMonolitBud Ltd. will complete construction in the first decade of May.
A number of contracting organizations (V.S. Kondratyuk individual entrepreneur, Transvit PC, VF Vzaemodiya Ltd) will construct foundations for grain storages of 5.5 thousand tons till the end of May. At the beginning of May, the contractors will start assembling silos.
SMU-25 Ltd. will have constructed the mechanical workshop by the end of May.
The specialists from Construction Company Ltd have started mounting metalware of the headhouse. Thus, the work will be half done till the end of April 29.
Poltavaspetsmontazh Ltd. will have constructed the connecting gallery by the end of April 29 as well.
Within several days, the builders from Astarta Mlynelevatorbud Ltd will perform zero cycle construction works for one of the three truck-tippers. Framing Construction Center Group LTD. will start mounting a truck-tipper at the beginning of May.
Concerning the weighing station constructed by VKF BULAT Ltd. (scales) and Zhytlorembud-NIKA Ltd. (control room), the specialists will install the foundation plate and lay brick walls for the control room by 80% till the end of May.
DI-KOR-BUD Ltd will lay brick walls of the cafeteria by 80% as well.
In general, the pace of construction demonstrated by the company’s partners is quite satisfactory in terms of quality and efficiency.
NIBULON’s General Director mentioned that the Minister of Economic Development of Ukraine, Stepan Kubiv, was interested in NIBULON’s investment project. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development promised to allocate funds to construct two more analogous facilities of the transport infrastructure.
He mentioned the Ukrainian Infrastructure Forum 2016, where the participants learnt challenges in the development of inland waterways and river transport in Ukraine.
“Today NIBULON is the only one in Ukraine, investing in the development of Ukrainian water transport and river logistics constantly. Our specialists have studied an experience of the EU countries, the USA and Belorussia in using inland water transport. NIBULON has invested USD 1.6 billion in the development of river transshipment terminals and berths located along the Dnipro and the Southern Bug.  NIBULON is the only one in Ukraine that constructs inland and river-sea vessels. Its fleet numbers 48 units. In 2016, the company will construct and put into operation 6 new vessels. NIBULON transports about 2 million tons of cargoes per year by Ukrainian inland waterways. It plans to transport 3 million tons per year. In addition, the company dredges the Southern Bug on the area of 143 km”, added Oleksiy Vadaturskyy.
Please note that Ukraine annually spends up to UAH 20 billion to repair roads being in bad condition.  These funds could be directed to revive 1,500 km of Ukrainian navigation waterways. The Government must create appropriate conditions to involve investments in this sector.
The Belarusian Government successfully transports cargoes along the Prypyat. It prohibits transporting cargoes by road transport or railway if river transportation is available. The USA actively transports cargoes along the Mississippi. Unfortunately, very little cargo is being transported along the Dnipro now.
