«When you work next to professionals, you have no other way but grow up», – Lesia Zahrebelna, Voznesenska branch

Lesia Zahrebelna come to NIBULON 6 years ago as laboratory technician at the Voznesenska branch. During this time because of her tenacity and initiative she got higher education, new knowledge, practical experience and eventually – the promotion at work, and thanks to the team and the company – support and motivation to move forward.

We asked Lesia about her path in NIBULON, inspiration and challenges at work, main motivators and received advice for specialists, who have just started to work in the company. And here is what she told us:

«I remember, when our branch was just under construction, I was already excited about the idea of working here and was waiting for it to finally open. Then immediately I applied and went through an interview. At that time, I had only a secondary education, and one of the conditions for employment was obtaining a higher education. I understood how important it was, planned to enter a university, choose a specialization – and here it is, I received additional motivation! I entered Kharkiv State University of Food and trade. I worked in the laboratory and studied at the same time.

I liked my work. I reinforced my theoretical knowledge from university with practice in laboratory: I made analyses of grain on the equipment, manually inspected moisture, impurities, and protein. I was so lucky to have people around me who had experience, knowledge and the most important – they wish to share it. Who inspired with their example to become better. I think that my boss, Olha Ilnitska, has significantly affected on my professional and personal development. She always suggested, directed, helped, taught with details of work. I saw that she was also excited about her work, wish for more, research and studied something. She showed with her example, that everybody has a potential for development. When you work in such team, next to professionals, you have no other way grow up.

In time, when I received both the practical experience and bachelor’s degree on specialty “Food technology”, I was promoted – firstly to laboratory engineer of the branch, and in May this year I was appointed as chief laboratory engineer. Now I am responsible for the full quality control of the grain during reception and loading, its analysis, process of drying, cleaning, moving, storing in containers, sending batches to warehouses, etc.

Together with new position I received more duties and responsibilities. I understand that I still have a lot to learn. It is one thing to work in the laboratory and run errands of your boss. And totally another one – to control the activity of the entire laboratory, distribute responsibilities, adjust working processes, work and gather the team, find an approach to each employee.

This is all complicated but very interesting at the same time. I am inspired of what we do. We feed people. Maybe it sounds simply. But those who know how to grow grain, how much efforts you need to put to receive good harvest, he knows the importance of our work. I realize, how much responsibility lays on me: the quality of entire batch depends on how well I do my job.

Bread – is our everything, this is our life. That is why I am very proud of my job. The realizing that you are part of big company, which manage such important mission, inspires me to work much better.

I would like to advise all colleagues, especially young people, who just start their path at NIBULON: be initiative and do not let the grass grow under your feet. If you want to gain new knowledge or education – tell about it! If you have suggestions on how to improve work – do not be silent! I am convinced by my own example: if you have a desire and put efforts to achieve the goal (no matter what it is), the company will support you and provide you with all the tools.»
